# Connecting eBay

Setup checklist, auto-sync behavior, and API rate limit management for your eBay integration.

## Setup Checklist

Before publishing your first card, ensure these required settings are configured under `Settings` › `eBay account` and `Listing defaults`:

1. eBay Connection: Status indicator shows Connected to eBay.

2. Location & Postal Code: Specify your `City and state` and `ZIP` (e.g., New York, NY and 10001). eBay requires a valid dispatch postal code for calculated rates and handling estimates.

3. Business Policies vs. Inline Shipping: If your eBay seller account has opted into eBay Business Policies (configured under `Shipping and policies`), FiveRowBox fetches your fulfillment, payment, and return policies directly. You select existing named profiles when publishing. If Business Policies are disabled, default flat-rate shipping services and handling times configured in your settings are applied inline during publishing.

## Auto-Sync Every 5 Minutes

What it fetches: Polls eBay for newly placed orders awaiting shipment, updates to existing order statuses, and active listing state changes every 5 minutes.

Sync status: While sync is working it stays out of sight; `Settings` › `eBay account` shows when it last synced. If sync has been failing for 15 minutes, or eBay signed you out, a banner appears at the top of the page. Click `Try again` to sync now, or `What happened` to open the eBay settings; if eBay signed you out, the account owner clicks `Reconnect eBay`. On a phone, `Not now` hides the banner until you next open the app.

## Daily eBay API Call Cap

FiveRowBox enforces a daily eBay API call cap based on your plan (300 calls/day on Free, 1,500 calls/day on Pro).

If your account reaches the daily eBay API call cap, non-critical background polling pauses until the cap resets at midnight UTC.

Critical operations like order pick-lists remain accessible from local cached data.
